Dear National Rifle Association

I received you email with the subject Important Information for the NRA Celebration of American Values.

I see that at the insistence of the U.S. Secret Service, a full suspension of the 2nd amendment as well as the suspension of Kentucky guaranteed rights and laws will be observed.  Since the is OFFICIAL NOTICE I assume that both the National Rifle Association and John McCain condone this.

I am sure the Secret Service would love to see all firearms banned everywhere as is the nature of their job. However, it is well within John McCain's power to overrule their protection and instead he chooses to make sure a gun ban is in place.  The NRA has the power to tell John McCain to not bother coming yet you feel his anti-freedom message is important enough to sell out your principles to hear.

Had this been a sitting or former President or some other Secret Service protected person that was valuable to us, I would not have even blinked at this notification. In fact, I would have expected it.  However, this is John McCain. Hasn't any of the NRA leadership read their own magazines, articles, letters and press releases over the last 10 years?  Did you forget that McCain and his anti-1st amendment legislation was a blatant attack on us all? Have you forgotten about his propensity to favor gun control?  This is the world's largest gun show and you want him to come close the so-called gunshow loophole right there in the middle of it?

What is wrong with the NRA?  What could McCain possibly say, short of "I regret that I cannot accept the nomination...", that we need to hear that bad. We do not need him at our convention and we do not want him there.

Please give my tickets to the Celebration of Socialist Values to Paul Helmke or Sarah Brady as I am sure they are far more aligned with the McCain message than I am.
