Highest 1911 On Foot
"Scavok" on the Ohioans For Concealed Carry Forums claims "highest 1911 carried on foot" with an elevation of 10,538'. That is 3,212 meters for you Europhiles. I say the record stands until someone posts a photo with a gun and altimeter to the contrary.

Congratulations Scavok.
One question though, was it open or concealed carry?

I’ve had my Glock 26 up to approx 4,500 feet

Too bad it's not an American made 1911.

I take it standing in a C-130 at 18,000 feet doesn't count?

Nope. Afraid not. Though that is the only way you would see my fat ass up that high, 1911 or not.

Holstered on my belt, right front. Taurus.

If you're willing to stretch the point and include the Hi-Power, the Indian 8th mountain division would have carried FN Browning GP35 9mm pistols during the Kargil campaign, where some outposts were as high 18,000ft.

Ha. I've had my Desert Warrior to 14,XXX many times. I'll get a pic once we get the sleds out.

I don't have pictures, but next spring, I'll have to remember to repeat hauling my Colt to 11000+ feet, this time with pictures and my GPS.
