I know that these United States are on a downward spiral towards European style nonsense but I hope we never get as bad as England has.  A memorabillia collector has been charged with possessing a de-milled Lee Enfield Rifle and given 5 years in prison.

Nope, you read that right. Not only is a non-criminal going to prison for possession of a Lee Enfield Rifle but it wasn't even operable!  In spite of the fact that the man lacked any criminal intent, did not know it was illegal to possess, cooperated fully with the police and plead guilty, he is going to jail anyway. He should have taken his chances with a jury.

I'm not kidding. This is really happening to this guy.  Phillip Peter Kent, 29 is going to jail for 5 years for merely possessing an inoperable bolt action rifle.

Before you ask, no he did not alter the rifle in any way to make it fire and he did not possess any ammunition for it.  He honestly believed he was permitted to own this worthless chunk of wood and metal that is a symbol of Great Britain's finest years. 

Judge John Maxwell, you are an asshat.  How do you even sleep at night? It must be hard as I am sure somebody that is as big of a prick as you has had his wife leave him and your kids probably cry themselves to sleep in shame.  Why would you not just send this man home you dill hole?

Tell you all what I am going to do. I am going to take out two of my several Lee Enfield rifles that I own without government permission, knowledge or registration, break open a package of surplus British .303 ammunition that I own free and clear of any government bullshit, and I am going to shoot both rifles all day Saturday in my back yard.  One in honor of Mr. Kent, the other in contempt of that worthless tool John Maxwell. 

Why am I going to send copper jacketed lead spiraling into an old tree at 2,400 fps?  Because I can.  Good luck Mr Kent.
