Get Your Stuff Back
I had a very good time at the first day of the National Rifle Association convention in Louisville. I didn't bother going to the Celebration of Socialism forum featuring 1st and 2nd amendment enemy John McCain. The room where he was speaking looked like an airport terminal to get into. The SS had it locked down with metal detectors and such. What a crock.
I went on past and enjoyed the rest of the convention anyway. When I was leaving the place, I had to walk past where the SS had set up shop and noticed a very very long line across the floor of a whole hall—there must have been easily 400 people in line. I asked a guy in a black coat what the line was for and he replied incredulously as if I should have known, "they are lined up to get their stuff back".
Apparently, not only did the SS prohibit firearms in the presence of his highness, but they also banned anything metal. They confiscated scissors, nail clippers or anything else. There was a full size convention table set up and piled high with pocket knives. Can't have a pocket knife, no way.
I understand the SS paranoia—they want to make sure they do everything they can not to have to take one for that idiot, especially before he is elected. What I can't understand is McCain himself. He just added SS protection last week—he could have waited until after the convention. I think it was his way of disarming as many people as he could, even if for only a few hours.
I also don't understand the NRA's new love affair with McCain. It is as if they are flip flopping faster than John Kerry could.
I guess since the "Freedom First" candidate didn't really work out they are going for the Anti-Freedom candidate this time.
