I found this Encounter at a Walmart while over at RideFastShootStraight.

The irony is when I sat down to unwind and read blogs this evening, I had just returned home from taking my family to the local Chinese cesspool WalMart to buy birthday supplies for the 3 year old.  While I was carrying as I always do when I take my family out somewhere, I had to stop and think about my trip after reading this.  Was I as situationally aware as I should be? Would I have thought to pass up my vehicle and double back? Or would I have even thought to use the shopping cart to block the aisle?  I don't know.

I am still having trouble remembering if I approached my parked vehicle appropriately this evening with the tribe in toe. I know I do these things when I am working out of town. Then I am usually alone in unusual if not totally unfamiliar territory and always carrying. I take the time to practice my situational awareness skills while I am not distracted by the kids or how much my wife just spent.

Did I do everything I should have tonight to safeguard my family from heinous predators? Or did I just strap on a gun and walk around in familiar area like all of the other zombies. Were we prey and I just didn't know it?
