Top 10%

According to Quantcast, I rank in the top 9.5% of their quantified websites.  Why? I have no idea.  Apparently I have been picking up traffic to my website lately.

When I first signed up for Quantcast, I was ranked at about 9.9 million out of 20 million sites they monitor.  About two months ago, I broke the 9 mil mark and was ranked at about 8.8 million out of 20. I then began climbing up a little to 8.4 then 8.1 down to 7.8 million last month where I have stayed until last week.  Then suddenly, last Wednesday or Thursday I dropped to 3.8 million all of a sudden. Then last night, I pull up my site and hit the Quantcast entry at the bottom of my sidebar and all of a sudden, I am ranked 1,932,584 out of 20,267,977.  How did that happen? Did traffic suddenly cease from 2 million websites?  Go figure.

Go here to see the Quantcast rankings or see where your site places against the others. You do not need to create an account to see your ranking. If you do create an account and begin getting "quantified", then they will gather more information about your site's statistics.  I decided to compare my ranking with some local area newspaper websites and here is how they ranked:

timesjournal.com                          Rank: 295877
irontontribune.com                       Rank: 136897
portsmouth-dailytimes.com          Rank: 97869
newswatchman.com                     Rank: 555330
thesciotovoice.com
Rank: 740137

Well, I'm breathing down the Scioto Voice's neck anyway as a Southern Ohio news source.

The number one website: yahoo.com
My goal is to break 1,000,000 by getting more hits than newyorkhangover.com, the current site ranked at 1,000,000.
