SWAT and Kids Don't Mix
In Colorado this weekend a family was the subject of a full SWAT raid. Were they terrorists? Dug Dealers? Arms Traffickers? Nope. Their crime was that they chose not to go to the hospital.
SWAT Officers Invade Home, Take 11 Year Old at Gunpoint
A full day before the raid, their boy was playing outside when he slipped and fell in front of neighbors. The boy's father, a trained paramedic, rushed to his aid and checked him over. A neighbor called an ambulance. When the paramedics arrived, they checked the boy over and said he looked okay but would like to take him to the hospital. The father refused because of the expense. We all know that a trip to the emergency room can be expensive even if they do not do anything.
One of the paramedic's feeling were hurt because his recommendation was not followed so he called the police. The police said that it was up to the family and there was nothing that could be done. Undeterred, the paramedic then called the Sheriff's department. The next evening, more than 24 hours after the accident, a Sheriff's department SWAT team forced their way into the home with a battering ram, through the parents and other siblings down on the ground and pointed machine guns at them while they snatched the boy from the home. They took him to a hospital where he was evaluated by a doctor and immediately released because there was nothing wrong with him.
Why did they not just knock on the door and present a warrant? The Commissar Sheriff says they chose a full SWAT machine gun toting raid instead because the father was a known "constitutionalist". No criminal record, no suspicion of a criminal activity, just a believer in the U.S. Constitution. Yep, if you believe in the constitution, they will suspend the constitution to force you to be a part of society.
Closer to home in Lima, Ohio, a SWAT team used flash grenades and invaded the home of a suspected crack user. In the course of the raid they killed a 26 year old women holding her 1 year old baby. They also found it necessary to shoot the baby and blow his fingers off.
We send our brave soldiers to Iraq and make them act like cops but we let our cops at home dress up and play soldier.
Remember boys and girls, SWAT and kids don't mix.

what a bunch of bull schlitz. it does not surprise me though. we actually just had a meeting at work with HR who advised us to do the same thing; do not get in the ambulance unless you don't know you're getting in. it all boils down to insurance crap to be honest.
