C'Mon Wayne
I just received an Election 2008 Special Bulletin from Wayne LaPierre and the NRA. Basically, it is another working together to save the 2nd amendment message. Included was a link to a new website: www.nravalues.org/
Now, in case this is your first trip to this site, I am a ardent supporter of the 2nd amendment. I am also a Life Member , certified NRA instructor, range safety officer and stalwart supporter of the National Rifle Association in general.
However, this website really irritated me. Come on Wayne, really. You show us what the candidates are saying about the 2nd amendment as though we have never heard of them before. Here you have positive quotes from Rudy and Mitt, both of which are flip-floppers extraordinaire. Where are the remarks they have made to ban guns. There are no shortage of YouTube videos, recorded legislation, campaign speeches and interviews spotlighting their stellar role in protecting the 2nd amendment (sarcasm in case you didn't know). And lets not forget John McCain. How many times have I read in NRA publications and articles written by Wayne himself that show McCain's ruthless anti-freedom attacks on multiple amendments of the Bill of Rights?
Wayne, I don't know what your purpose here is in trying to present these men as something they obviously are not. I know you are not fooled by them. Just because you want to be president doesn't mean you can just alter your past to persuade the masses. Did you forget that great hunter John Kerry already? You mentioned his deceptive tactics in the full story yet you presented these charlatans as bonafide pro-gun candidates anyway.
Wayne, if you are committed to putting one of these conservative wannabees in office, don't try it on a 2nd amendment platform. You just can't polish a turd.
Chris Cox says at the top of that very page that the NRA will "...carefully weigh every candidate's past actions and future commitments on all issues affecting the Second Amendment before making an endorsement decision."
Please take his advice. Don't treat your members like the Republican Party would treat us and invent a conservative.

So, who are we hoping to vote for?

A republican would be nice.
Ron Paul is the preferred choice so far. I'll take Fred Thompson too.
Mitt and Rudy have the same platform as Hillary and Obama--check their records.

Saw your post at FauxNews. Thanks.
Mc Cain needed to retire long ago. He doesn't even remember what it is like to be in the military. I was at DaNang in 1970, and don't remember a whole lot of it either anymore. He has become liberalized over the years and is now just an angry old fart. The anti-gun stance he takes killed any support from me. The only reason I would vote for him is if Billary was opposite him on the Pres. ticket.
Happy and Prosperous New Year to you.
Marc
