Gunfire unsettles growing townships

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer

This William Watson sounds like the typical city numbnut  that leaves the city because they don't like it and then seeks to change their rural community to be just like the city.  These people have probably lived there all their life. The newcomers are what is different, not the rural residents. Reminds me of the type of whine bag that will buy a house near an airport and then complain about the noise.

Hey Watson, pull your panties out of your crack, wipe your nose and try to act like a man.  When my 4 year old daughter hears gunfire she asks if she can shoot too—you hide under your bed.  I bet you've never even shot a gun.

Instead of begging the nanny state for help with your imaginary plight, why don't you try this approach instead:  when your neighbors are shooting, why don't you go over, tell them you heard their activity and ask if maybe you could try it too. Odds are, they would be more than happy to share their sport with you. You could even wear Depends the first time, no one will know.

I'll give Olmsted Township Police Chief Charles McNeeley the benefit of the doubt that he was misquoted when he said "If the shooter is over 18, has the firearm registered and is sober, there is nothing we can do to stop them," he said. "And they know it."

Hey Chief, in case you were not misquoted, you had better pay better attention. There is no firearm registration in Ohio.  Also, how dare these people "know" you cannot enforce a non-existent law and continue with their rampant lawfulness.

You know. I want my neighbors to go out and target shoot so all of the "undesireables" in the area know that the neighborhood is armed and not an easy target for crime.

I'm sure the neighbors are good people who just enjoy shooting. Those same neighbors are probably a deterent for crime in the neighborhood and the folks with the 5 kids should put them on the speed dial since they are closer than the cops in an emergency.

    I don't see what he's whining about.

Since you obviously don't live there and believe what you read in a liberal newspaper, let me inform you of what is going on.

Guy is shooting on his property...no problem. Guy shooting on his property misses his target....slight problem. Loose round goes through house in a neighboring CITY...big problem.

Olmsted Township is surrounded on ALL sides by cities. Cities in which civilians cannot legally discharge a weapon. It is one of 2 townships left in Cuyahoga County [the other is on the opposite side of Cleveland] and is fighting to maintain its status as such.

Point is, if you can't hit a target and you can't control your weapon, get back to the enclosed range or give it up. These novice shooters are giving the legit shooters a bad name and are fuel for the anti-gun movement.

As far as cops go in Olmsted Township: we have the one of the LOWEST crime rates in Ohio....not due to gun ownership, but due to the fact that we also 29 cops for a population of 11,000.

Quit believing the BS you read in liberal newspapers and do some research.

If someone is not paying attention to their backstop and rounds are flying then I agree that is a problem. The way this article is written, it sounds as if the complainer was just first concerned that his neighbor is shooting at all. There is nothing in the story that would indicate that the neighbor is firing into his property or otherwise doing anything wrong. The whiner took it upon himself to complain to the police because his neighbor is shooting, not because stray rounds have actually found their way onto his property.
I really do hope that the liberal rag misquoted the police chief but if they did not, there is a problem where the chief thinks there are non-existent laws requiring registration of firearms in Ohio.
As to research, well, I'm really not that interested.
