According to an AP article posted on Yahoo, D.C. officials are appealing the recent Appeals court decision that strikes down the D.C. Gun Ban.  The curent ban only allows important D.C. residents to own a firearm. If you are not on the elite roster you cannot have one.  Its hard to keep track of the elite list too such as Senators Ted Kennedy and Chuck Schumer are allowed, Senator Jim Webb is not, blah blah blah.

However, my favorite part  of the article is the gross understatement by  D.C. officials that  warned the court that "its rejection of the city's hangun ban creates a precedent that could severely limit gun control."

Really? That is what will happen when your silly gun control law is overturned? It will no longer apply?  Duh.

I think all sides of this issue are all in agreement with that statement.  Nothing to contest there.
