Way Back Wednesday #12
JT emailed me this story last week about a strange disease that researchers claim is responsible for the famed Hatfield-McCoy feud. Personally, I always thought it was caused by a bunch of appalachian hill-jacks that took themselves a little too seriously but then, what do I know.
But of course, in today's society, no one is responsible for their actions but instead it is always an illness or pressures from society or some other such liberal drivel that is to blame. Guess then there are not enough blameless retards running around in the present, so a group of researchers decided to look to the past for more.
I also found this interesting that it is only the McCoy's side that suffers from this disease. However, since there are two sides to the feud, then either these learned researchers are saying that the McCoys are hapless victims and the Hatfields are criminals or they simply failed to consider that there is more than one side to the feud.
If, according to the research, that the McCoys are not responsible because they suffer from this rare disease, and the Hatfields do not suffer from this ailment, then the Hatfields are criminal and the McCoys are not. When the McCoys killed Hatfields it is because they were suffering from some adreneline rage disease. When the Hatfields killed McCoys in response, then they are not doing so from adrenaline rage diseases but because they are just murdering criminals. Some research.
Of course, in my opinion this is all bullshit. I don't know about McCoys but after being married to a Hatfield for the last eight years, I can tell you that they are prone to random, unwarranted fits of rage. Or maybe I just bring out the best.

The Hatfield Clan in 1897.

I thought it started over a pig??

It ran deeper - to land and timber issues I believe. The pig was just the catalyst for the first shots.
